If you are interested in either hosting or producing an Advent Window in December 2011, please email and we will add you to our list for next year.
This will take place at 6.00 - 6.30 pm on Monday 20th December in St Mary's churchyard. Do come and join some local school choirs and other notable singers in some well-loved carols. And after some good hearty singing, refreshments of festive cheer will be available in New Church House for a small charge. Carol sheets will be provided and 'Glow Sticks' will be available at £1 each to help you read the words! Our Advent Window will be opened in New Church House immediately after the Sing.
We will have a bucket collection that evening with all funds going to Shelter for Hertfordshire. This is a fantastic organisation that helps those who are about to become homeless and those who already are. Do please give generously if you can to help those who will find themselves in a difficult position this Christmas.
I have been the Police Officer for Welwyn and the villages for ten months now and continue to be impressed with the great commmunity spirit we have here. The Advent windows are certainly no exception to this and I wish them every success.
The Rural Policing Team including myself will be present at many of the displays to assist with any possible safety issues. I am also keen that we attend and continue to meet more of our residents to increase our visibility within the community.
